About

Abeer was born in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; since a young age, she had a strong interest in environmental sustainability and has written an article at the age of 13 in Saudi Gazette promoting for increasing adopting more sustainable lifestyle methods; her interest in environmental sustainability blended by her belief in linking using cultural, innovation, sports, and creativity as a platform to achieve that has led her to many different countries in the world in search of best practices.

Academically, She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences with a focus on Neuroaesthetics, the interdisciplinary study of beauty, art, history, and the philosophy of aesthetics from a visual neuroscience perspective. She also holds an MA in International Development from SOAS.

Thirsty for adventure, serving and learning, Abeer chose the unconventional route of devoting herself to humanitarian causes at a very young age. She believes that her involvement in serving humanity has been the driving force for her personal and professional growth. Throughout her career thus far, Abeer’s passion for social impact has led her to various positions, right from taking up roles as the chair of an NPO to roles in the peace building, cultural, development, & arts sectors at multilateral organizations, including the GCC and the UN.

Over the course of her experiences, she has become interested in creating innovative and culturally relevant sustainable solutions geared towards positive social change.

She founded The Sustainable Development Association (Talga), which aims to localise and culturalise the SDGs in Saudi Arabia in alignment with Vision 2030. Abeer is passionate about dedicating her lifetime to projects that will preserve and bring life back to endangered species, land and the planet.

Asides from work, Abeer is a multi-faceted creative inspired by her surroundings and what she calls her “Cosmic Desert” adventures in Saudi and throughout Arabia, she produces art on canvas utilising the available natural materials and analogue photography using old infrared films.

Abeer likes to keep fit and eat healthy food as part of her lifestyle. She is also a certified RYA sailor, a showjumper, and an art collector. Her name, Abeer, means “the floral scent” in Arabic. She is an HB6 alumni alongside 1000 women in the ten year long program because she wants to be part of an inspiring community of creative leaders.
